There are many cats out there with beautiful markings, whether it be stripes, swirls, or patches. But for tuxedo cats, they’re loved by many for the fancy “attire” they wear. For one appropriately named tuxedo cat, Bangs, she has some unique markings that make her look as if she’s sporting a freshly trimmed fringe. I reached out to her owner after seeing her adorable photos on my Tuxedo Cat Lovers group on Facebook, and I think that you’ll love looking at her just as much as I do.
Everyone, meet Bangs!
How did you first meet your cat, Bangs?
Bangs entered my life in October of last year. I had just moved into my first apartment and was feeling lonely living alone. I started browsing for cats on Petfinder and came across her picture. Even after looking at other cats, I knew I had to see her. Something told me I had to at least meet her.
I was surprised she hadn’t been picked up before I had the chance to meet her, but I’m grateful she wasn’t.
Upon first meeting her, she behaved similarly to how she does with everyone else – trying to blend in with the floor and become invisible. Those who had previously interacted with her didn’t have the time to properly socialize with her, which may have contributed to her lack of social skills. I used a trick I had seen Jackson Galaxy do, which involved allowing her to sniff my glasses, and within minutes she had grabbed onto my arm. I found myself unable to refuse her at that point.

“Although Bangs is still quite shy and timid, she has opened up to me a bit. She isn’t the biggest cuddler, but she shows love in unique ways. She likes to make sure she has at least one paw touching me when we go to sleep at night.”
Kris rescued Bangs from Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue in Ohio and plans to help the shelter that works hard to assist animals in need. As an author, Kris intends to donate all of the proceeds from her first book to the shelter that connected her with this special tuxedo cat.
Do you have something special that you’d like people to know about Bangs? As an author with Asperger’s and BDD, I found rescue in her. Getting Bangs has really helped me out of my shell, and I’ll be donating my first book’s earnings to the shelter I got her from.
I want to give a special thank you to Kris for allowing me to share Bangs’ story, as well as her adorable images. Can’t get enough of this cutie? Keep up with Miss Bangs on Instagram! Her owner nominated her special kitty, saying that “when I saw Bangs’ pic on Petfinder, there was a comment that gave me the impression people didn’t like how different she looked. Having multiple disorders such as ASD and BDD, I know what it’s like to be different, so I adopted her. I quickly realized I was wrong as I shared her picture online. It turned out people absolutely loved her! She inspired me to embrace being different. We’d like to show people that whether you’re a human or a cat, being different can be beautiful.”
You’ve got to give it a go!
