For the past 32 years, I have been a proud owner of Boxers and I even created a Facebook group called ‘Everyday Boxer’ with almost 50,000 fellow enthusiasts. Every now and then, I also engage in breeding activities.
When my puppies reach six weeks old, I initiate their socialization process. One of the activities I enjoy doing with them is paying a visit to the elderly folks at Four Fountains nursing home.
During my childhood, I used to accompany my grandmother on her weekly visits to her mother at a nursing home. This went on for almost a decade. Later, when my grandmother’s health deteriorated, she too had to spend her last year at the same nursing home.
My grandparents were lucky to have us around them every day, but not everyone is fortunate enough. Many residents in nursing homes are left alone without any visitors for years.
It’s disheartening to witness a significant amount of isolation among individuals who deserve esteem. I thoroughly evaluate them before admitting them.
The moment we enter a room with a basket brimming with puppies, all feelings of isolation and solitude are immediately lifted.
As I interact with the locals, they beam with joy, chuckle, and recount countless anecdotes about their furry companions.
My goal in sharing these delightful pictures of unadulterated happiness is to motivate people to bring their furry friends when they visit senior citizens.
