It’s not uncommon to witness dogs and cats bonding, but this unlikely duo of a dog and a duck takes the cake! Four-year-old Pekin Andy and golden retriever Barclay have formed an unbreakable friendship, despite their differences. Their owner Pam Ishiguro proudly shared that these two are inseparable, always missing each other when apart, and though they may bicker from time to time, their bond remains unshakable.

“My two boys and these animals share a similar dynamic – they switch between loving and hating each other. Whenever they’re in each other’s company, there’s always some chasing or jumping around happening. However, when they’re separated, they often call out for each other.”
“Barclay has a particular fondness for duck chow; he loves to eat and knows that there’s always plenty of food in the coop. He sneaks into the coop whenever he can to have a nibble.”
“He also enjoys drinking the bathwater of the ducks and, if he manages to be quiet enough, he takes pleasure in sniffing their rear-ends.”

According to Ishiguro, Barclay had a fear of ducklings and avoided looking at them. However, recently he has overcome his fear. It is believed that he may have learned this behavior from watching their other dog, Izzy, who used to stalk the ducklings. The family was worried that Izzy might harm them, and they corrected his behavior whenever he tried to approach them. It seems that Barclay also picked up on this and learned not to be afraid of the ducks. Interestingly, the dogs even sleep and rest together.

Everything took a turn when the ducklings matured and surpassed Izzy in size. The ducks only had to pursue Izzy once to make him realize his position. Consequently, Izzy’s fear of the ducks has increased significantly.
However, Barclay seemed unfazed by the presence of ducks and actually appeared quite content in their company. It is clear that Barclay adores spending time with his owner, Andy, as they are frequently spotted snuggling up together on the couch. Despite the unusual pairing of a dog and ducks, Barclay appeared perfectly at ease sitting alongside his feathered friends.
